Lena Nelson Dooley

Award-winning author, Lena Nelson Dooley, has more than 800,000 books in print. Her book, Love Finds You in Golden, New Mexico, was given the 2011 Will Rogers Medallion Award for excellence in publishing Western literature. In addition to her writing, Lena mentors other authors and received the ACFW Mentor of the Year Award. She is a frequent speaker at women’s groups, writers groups, and at both regional and national conferences.

Danica has spent her life in love with good books. Her job doing online promotion for a major publisher has given her the opportunity to meet many of the authors who inspired her growing up. Never did she imagine that the people who took her to far away places would someday be the same folks she called friends. Having spent most of her life in Colorado, she loves the mountains. She and her husband have four children ranging in age from 9 to 25, a pesky dog, and a slew of chickens. She is awaiting the release of her debut novel from Love Inspired Historical.

An avid knitter, restrained coffee junkie, and reformed chocoholic, Allie Pleiter writes both fiction and non-fiction. The enthusiastic but slightly untidy mother of two, Allie spends her days writing books, buying yarn, and finding new ways to avoid housework. Allie hails from Connecticut, moved to the midwest to attend Northwestern University, and currently lives outside Chicago, Illinois. The “dare from a friend” to begin writing has produced two parenting books, twenty novels, and various national speaking engagements on faith, women’s issues, and writing.

Jean Blum from Wishard joined us last month. She was very excited about our involvement with her patients. She gave us some suggestions as well.
They do not need the A or B cups, so make the 3 larger sizes. Also consider doing some sets, as some women have a double mastectomy. The pattern has an option for 1 piece, which I love as no sewing it together when you finish knitting. Also, go down a needle size on the back side (per the pattern) as this makes a flat back side that will be concave when completed and it will not irritate the incision. Please go ahead and fill them with polyester fiberfill and leave a long trail for us to close it after we add the weight. No need to knit I-cord or add the button for a nipple, the women don’t care about that.
Jean was very excited to receive the first delivery a short time ago and will give us feed back as we go along on our project.
Thank you for helping the cause and hope you can join us Sat. If not just drop your donation off at the shop, Susan has a large basket for us to use. As they come in I will add the weight, finish the opening and deliver them to Jean.
