Press Release: Announcing Renewal 2021 Yarn Crawl
It’s time for Renewal! Spring is just around the corner!
Of course, because of current circumstances, this year’s yarn crawl is going to be different. Seven shops, one yarn truck, and one online-only store will be participating this year. Some shops will be open (with safety protocols in place), some will be online only, and some will be a combination.
Everyone can participate this year, there are no passports and no validation pages. There are no special discounts—think of it as your opportunity to support these great small businesses.
There will be no grand prizes—some of the shops will offer drawings for shop prizes.
Our limited edition yarn is called “Renewal” and it is dyed by Leading Men.
Each shop will have a limited supply of this yarn, and it will be revealed on February 19. $27.00 per skein.
Also, beginning on February 19, check out the Social Media pages of each shop for an intro video. These videos will help you as you plan your crawl.
The following shops are participating in the 2021 yarn crawl:
Always in Stitches, Noblesville
The Black Sheep, Noblesville
The Clay Purl, Nashville
Mass Ave Knit Shop, Indianapolis
Nomad Yarn Truck, multiple locations
Shabby Sheep and Ewe, Columbus
Starstruck Cat Studio, Greenwood
Tabby Tree Weaver, Fishers
Village Yarn Company, Zionsville
Anticipating the Yarn Crawl!
A little planning goes a long way! We are full of ideas and suggestions!
- Double-check the hours and availability of each shop before heading out! Remember, this year is different for all of us! A few of our shop friends have closed, one is online only, many of us have changed our hours, and the Nomad truck will be in different locations.
- Look through your pattern “queue” print out patterns that you want to find yarn for, then when you buy the yarn at one of the shops, drop the pattern in the bag.
- Save $1 dollar bills or $5 dollar bills (or both) for some spending capital!
- Plan a yarn crawl project–using a skein from each shop, check out the ideas page!
News From MAKS
Hello Knitter Friends,
We just wanted to touch base and give you the latest MAKS news.
With the upcoming snow conditions in the Indianapolis area, it’s a great time to remind everyone, to give the store a call if there is incoming bad weather BEFORE you head out. Keeping staff and customers safe is our main goal, and that may include having to close for the day or close earlier than our posted hours. We will try and provide updates on social media, but we reserve the right to adjust store hours on the fly based on safety and current weather conditions. The good news is, you don’t even have to leave your slippers to shop with MAKS, as the online store is here for you 24/7.
Tomorrow, we will be sending out a press release for the upcoming Yarn Crawl. It will be very different this time around as there are no passports needed to participate. As part of the crawl, MAKS will be giving away a gift basket of knitty goodness. To participate you just have to shop during the yarn crawl, either at the store or online. Each purchase will get you one entry into the drawing. Please see the press release tomorrow for the main event details.
One thing that did not change for the yarn crawl is some extremely yummy yarn that was specially prepared for the crawl. Shhhh, no spoilers. Pre-orders will begin this Friday at 12:01 a.m. We’ll send out a notice with pictures at that time and the online store will have the inventory loaded as well waiting for your purchase. Limited quantities available…its AAAAAAHHHHmazing.
We have six of our annual subscriptions left for purchase if anyone is interested. (This is bad Dru talking now) I’ve had some issues getting the online coupons released but will have that taken care of shortly.
We have two exciting events coming soon. February 26-March 13th we will be having an in-house trunk show for Brediculous Yarns. We’ll have a special page set up at the online store for online purchases. I’ll be following up with a list before the event to show you all the extra tasty yarn goodness that Brea has created for us.
Also coming in April will be a Trunk show for Wabash Woolen Works, and we’ll provide more information as we get closer to the event.
One last thing, we appreciate your patience during the last year with our truncated business hours. We will be continuing them in the meantime, looking forward to going back to full service this May based on current conditions.
Happy Valentines Day!
Stay safe knit friends!
