Fall 2011 Classes

Here is Jane’s list for Fall Classes

Kauni Cap(Fair Isle)-Wed. Sept 7, and 21. from 6-8 pm

Cost $30. plus pattern and materials

Learn to use dbl points, knit in the round and follow a chart!  You can add beads if you choose!  There are many options of design pattern for this class.

Kauni Mittens (Fair Isle) Wed. Oct 5 and 19. from 6-8 pm.

Cost $30 plus pattern and materials.

The changing colors in the yarn makes the fair isle look more complicated than it really is.  You will want to do multiples of both the hat and mittens-

1/2 Half Finished Projects at 1/2 Price!-Tues Sept 6, 20 and Oct 4 from 6-8 pm

Cost $30

Bring any class project you have not finished and work on it during this time!  Socks, jackets, bags, even your Einstein Coat!   This time is set aside just for these types of projects!

Basic Sock Tues Sept 13, 27 and Oct 12 from 6-8 pm.

cost $30. plus materials.

Learn to make a basic pair of socks from the top down.

Toe Up Socks– Tues Nov 8, 22 and Dec. 6 from 6-8 pm.

Cost $30 olus materials

Rowan Cable Collared Coat Tues Nov 1, 15, 29 and Dec 13 from 6-8 pm

Cost $60. plus materials

Pattern from the Rowan Nordic Tweed Book.  There is a sample of the sweater which uses the new Colorspun!  There are many color options for the coat.  Get in early because this pattern is already very popular!

Cable Coat (Vogue Early Fall 2010) call for dates

This was a very popular class last year and we have some new colors of the Tahki Montana that is used for this project.

Block Sweater– Wed. Sept 14, 28, Oct 12, 26, Nov. 9, 23 and Dec 7

Cost $60. plus materials and Book

Construction is one of a kind! Knit in squares from the Nicky Epstein Block by Block Book.  A variety of yarns can be used to give a boxier fit or closer fit.  Some possible yarns are: Baby Alpaca Naturbelassen, Berroco Ultra Alpaca, Kauni or Cascade 220.  The sample was knit with Baby Alpaca Naturbelassen(natural colors in the wool).

I think this will be great for the Market bag that we have in the store.  It will only take 1 sk!  The photo does not do the colors justice!  The colors of the yarn are really bright and clear!  Come in and check it out.

Overnight next Sat, Aug 13.  Fun starts at 7:30.  Bring a small snack to share and $20.  We will order pizza from South of Chicago pizza.  It is really good and it is new to the neighborhood!

If you have not been in the shop in the last 2 weeks, you do not know about my new obsession!  I am a Crazy Cranker!  I am using the new I-Cord maker that we sell in the shop.  Here are 2 examples of what I am doing- blue and white-COLTS, and blue and orange-BEARS (for stitches) !  These will be great in any school colors!  These Crankers are a huge hit and make the cutest scarves in around 2 hours!

What is a Late Night Knit

A “Late Night Knit” is a night we set aside for our favorite yarn projects. The evening starts at 5:30 PM and goes on til Midnight. For $20 we provide pizza and drinks. You bring a snack and your latest project to work on. Sometimes we work on a service project, so be sure to check the blog before you join us. Can’t wait to see you at our next “Late Night Knit”

In-Store Retreat

What IS the In-Store Retreat?
The In-Store Retreat is a weekend of meeting up with old friends and making new ones while working on your latest yarn project without the distraction of home and work.

For a fee of $30 for the entire weekend, you get a discount on all yarn in the store, as well as 7-10 free patterns, a cool shop bag and a chance to win one of the many door prizes we give away throughout the weekend.

Feel free to join us all weekend or just for an hour or two. We look forward to seeing you over the weekend!
