Let me start by saying that I have been avoiding BRIOCHE, my whole knitting life! I have always recommended Fisherman Rib instead of the dreaded B-stitch!.
With that said, I felt that I had to bite the bullet and learn this stitch!
My biggest complaint is that the pattern seems to have way too much verbage! What I mean is that it seems that things could be explained a little less comlpicated.
So here is what I deciphered:
any time is says- brk or brp- it just means to work 2 tog.- either as knits (k) or purls (p). You will know which you are working, knit or purl, depending on what color you are using for the row.
If you are using the orange on this row, you are knitting the orange st. plus the yo together.
If you are using the carmel color, you are purling the carmel st with the yo.
as far as yo are concerned_
If you are working knit 2 tog row you will repeat
*yarn forward, slip 1 purlwise, then knit 2 tog*
– this will give you a YO the needle.
If you are working a p2tog row you will repeat
*yarn in front, slip 1 purlwise, yarn over the needle and back to the front, purl 2 tog*
-this will give you the YO that you need for the next row.
Remember, THAT YOU WILL ALWAYS SLIP YOUR STITCH BEFORE YOU YO!!
I have to admit I fudged my end of rows! If it said to slip 3 with yarn in back, I left it in the front and moved it after the knit 3 (or slip 3) on the next row.
Here is my clue #2- I think it should have been 2 separate clues. It was a lot of knitting with 2 very different stitch patterns.
Here is the wrong side to show how the carmel is the K2tog st on this side.
I hope this does not make it more confusing for you!
